Downtown L.A.’s up-and-down economic outlook in the past 20 years appeared to be up recently. New hotels have opened, along with some new entertainment venues, such as the Bellwether.

• Pine and Crane closed its downtown restaurant at 4 p.m. • Outdoor bar Prank is closing at 8 p.m. • Truly LA, the hard seltzer bar in downtown’s Arts District, remained closed on Wednesday.

During a press conference Friday, Mayor Karen Bass said there was no termination date for the downtown LA curfew just yet. This video was broadcasted on the NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on June 13, 2025.

The $56 million project — built without taxpayer dollars — was also intended to connect cultural outposts, such as restaurants and the Music Center, with Downtown LA civic institutions.
