Veterans Affairs, which provides health coverage for veterans and their dependents, did not include abortion in its coverage until 2022. President Joe Biden’s administration added it months after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and state abortion bans began kicking in.

The Trump administration aims to bar U.S. veterans from receiving abortions at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals in cases of incest, rape or when the pregnancy puts their life at risk. The move would revoke abortion access for vets and eligible family members expanded in 2022 under the Biden administration.

The Biden administration expanded reproductive rights options at VA hospitals. For veterans, the Trump administration is now trying to roll back the clock.
