MEMPHIS, Tennessee — This dog is really testing the limits of the phrase “Man’s best friend.” A man was asleep with his girlfriend when his dog, named Oreo, jumped onto the bed at about 4 a.m., causing a gun that also was in the bed to go off, wounding the man in the leg, reports say.

The man said he was "laying on his bed" with a female friend when his dog accidentally set off the gun's trigger, the Memphis Police Department said.

A Memphis man was shot in the leg while canoodling in bed with a lady friend — and he claims his pet pooch is the one who pulled the trigger. The unidentified man was lying in bed with a female friend “relaxing/talking” around 4 a.m. Monday, an incident report from the Memphis Police Department said.
