The Divine Mercy novena prayers were given to St. Faustina through an apparition of our Lord Jesus. Each day has a new petition that seeks God’s mercy for different purposes.

A novena, of course, is nine days of prayer. St. Faustina tells us the Lord directed her to say this chaplet for nine days before the feast of Mercy, and it is to begin on Good Friday (Diary, 796).

From that day on, I began praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily – or a near-daily as I could manage – at 3 p.m. I still do pray the Rosary daily, and often, a number of times throughout the day.

This is the 9th day novena prayer to be said today, the day before Divine Mercy Sunday: “Today bring to Me The Souls Who Have Become Lukewarm and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy.
