Delta Airlines said on Friday it has paused flights to Tel Aviv from New York through August 31 due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East after Israel launched a huge wave of airstrikes across Iran. The emergency directive comes amid fears of Iranian retaliation against Israeli strikes across Iran.

Global air traffic has been disrupted following Israel’s strikes on Iran Friday, with several major airlines suspending flights to and from locations in the Middle East and rerouting their planes to avoid much of the region’s airspace.

Amid conflict between Israel and Iran that escalated this week, Delta has shut down one of its major international routes. On Friday Israel's capital city of Tel Aviv was hit with missile strikes from Iran in retaliation for Israel's strikes against Iran on Thursday.
