Described as a “neat, even flashy” little sparrow by the website All About Birds, the dark-eyed junco was chosen by the public from four finalists in an online poll last year.

So for the month of May, Bird Friendly Kitchener is celebrating that diversity.The organization helped give Kitchener the city's bird-friendly status and its official bird: the dark-eyed junco.
