Mavericks center Dereck Lively II has foot surgery

Those moves have put Dallas in a position to compete for a title in the near future. However, not everything has gone the Mavericks’ way. On Tuesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Dereck Lively II recently underwent surgery for bone spurs in his right foot.
The Dallas Mavericks only made one new addition to their roster during free agency. The Mavericks were left with a hole in the backcourt following Kyrie Irving's season-ending ACL tear in March. Irving re-signed with the franchise earlier this offseason but isn't expected to return to the court until the early stages of 2026.
The deal keeps the Mavericks’ vaunted frontcourt trio of Gafford, Dereck Lively II and Anthony Davis together for the foreseeable future.
