In order to save money for the Department of Public Safety's long-awaited new $3 million headquarters, several smaller projects will have to be constructed first.

Sanchez said they quickly outgrew their current building because Texas DPS did not plan to have a regional headquarters in El Paso back in 2009 when the decision was made.
