A statue of the Virgin Mary that is reportedly crying real tears with reddened eyes has drawn throngs of people to the church in Mexico where it is located.
Experts believe the statue’s so-called crying is due to its highly water-absorbent material. When it is ruptured, droplets leak out, giving the illusion that the statue is weeping, they claim.
The statue's owner, Fabio Gregori, refused to take a DNA test. In 2018 a Mary statue at the Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hobbs, New Mexico was found to be 'crying' rose scented olive oil.
