The 24 legislators listed in the upcoming vote are all from Taiwan's main opposition Kuomintang Party, which advocates closer economic ties with China and has control over the current legislature together with the smaller Taiwan People Party.

The votes could reshape the island democracy's parliament and the government's approach to its powerful neighbor.

If KMT loses its seats in the recall elections, the party can file new candidates for the by-elections and may be able to win back the seats.
