Two people died, including the pilot, and another person was injured Tuesday when a small airplane crashed at the Sugar Valley Airport in Davie County, authorities said Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 4:51 p.m. to a report of a crash with injuries at the intersection of State Road 8 and County Road 450 E., the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Two people from Northern Virginia died when a Mercedes ran into the rear of a stopped tractor-trailer on the right shoulder of Interstate 81 in Botetourt County on Thursday evening.

The collision forced the Audi into the westbound lane of the highway, police said, where it collided with two motorcycles.
