One year ago – on March 20, 2024 – Canyon Lake was 60% full, according to data from the Texas Water Development Board. In September, that number dropped to just over 55%.

Canyon Lake has seen a 12% water level drop over the last year. On February 21, 2024, Canyon Lake was 60.5% full with a mean water level of 887.71 and 229,057 acre-feet of reservoir storage.

Lone Rock Beach Campground is off the grid, though not completely free. There was a fee as we were camping in the Glen Canyon Recreation Area, but it’s only $14 per vehicle. Bargain.

Even with the recent rains Canyon Lake remains 46.1% full, which is actually lower than last week when it was 46.3% full, last month at 47%, and a year ago at 58.5%.

The dive team says the recent rains and new floodwaters have pushed debris downstream, and they anticipate finding more people near Canyon Lake.
