ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Parks and Recreation officials confirmed they have closed the swimming area in Kelly Park Friday as a result of alligator activity in the water.

The bypass canal helps store and eventually divert flood water around the cities of Tampa and Temple Terrace.

Police say a group of teenagers and two vehicles were involved in the crash incident. The 17-year-old male collided with a stationary parked vehicle and died at the scene.

It all happened around 4 p.m. near the interchange of Route 322 and Route 222, just steps from a busy Walmart.
