JOHANNESBURG - The renowned cast of season two of the groundbreaking series Shaka iLembe said South African audiences are in for more drama and intrigue after a successful first season of the series.

Princess Mkabayi is shown grabbing a man for sex in a scene that shocked the royal family. The royal house says it was not warned about the scene, which they say is disrespectful and false.

Dawn Thandeka King, who stars opposite Nomzamo Mbatha in Shaka iLembe, had social media buzzing this week when a clip of her rehearsal was shared on Instagram.

Shaka has been the subject of numerous novels, poems, films and TV series. Many have offered distorted versions of Zulu culture. But the award-winning 2023 drama series Shaka iLembe seemed different.
