The Chicago Bulls announced today the team has signed guard Yuki Kawamura (YOO-kee kah-wah-MOO-rah) to a two-way contract. In a related move, Chicago has waived guard Jahmir Young.
The Bulls signed Summer League standout Yuki Kawamura to a two-way contract Saturday, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. The 5-foot-8 point guard impressed during Summer League play, averaging 10.2 points, 6.2 assists, 2.4 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.0 three-pointers per game while shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc in five appearances.
During an appearance on the essential Chicago fan podcast "CHGO Bulls," longtime NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line indicated that Ball's extension may have been more about setting him up for his own future than locking him down for the Bulls long-term.
“Japanese guard Yuki Kawamura has agreed to a two-way NBA deal with the Chicago Bulls,” Charania reported. “Bulls finalized the deal with Kawamura’s agents at Wasserman to sign the 5-foot-8 point guard amid a strong summer league.”

He'll be toggled between the Bulls proper and their G League affiliate in Hoffman Estates, the Windy City Bulls.
