A 78-year-old man was taken to a local hospital after falling down an elevator shaft Sunday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

Police said it happened around 1:30 p.m. at 1025 Boynton Ave. located between Bruckner Boulevard and Watson Avenue.

Firefighters say they found the 78-year-old on top of the elevator car inside the shaft on Boynton Avenue in Soundview. The victim was unconscious.
