Brisbane City Council residents will soon see a $50 increase in their annual waste disposal fees as the city rolls out a new green waste bin program aimed at reducing landfill.
The Brisbane City Council has made green bins effectively free as it rolls out an opt-out green waste program for about 170,000 households and scraps surcharges in favour of a flat rate.
Brisbane’s increase is above the 2.5 per cent inflation rate but in line with the council’s cost index, which has soared due to pressure on construction and labour prices.
