Bridges spanning the Mississippi River in western Wisconsin and southeast Minnesota are sturdy enough to withstand a barge collision, according to Wisconsin DOT.
A wildlife crossing bridge spanning North Oracle Road near Oro Valley will be named for the late Ann Day, a former Pima County supervisor who championed the county’s wildlife-preservation efforts.
The bridge crossing will remain closed until repairs are made. Ross Township Fire Service Lt. Phil Topor said about 25 people were injured, 16 of whom were taken to area hospitals by ambulance.
