Railroading Heritage of Midwest America is buying the former National Railway Equipment shop complex in Silvis to use for the preservation of historic rail cars and engines.

Construction is under way on the Baby Bob pedestrian bridge, an extension of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, which crosses the Missouri River to connect downtown Omaha and Council Bluffs.
