In Krita you simply hit Control/Shift-N which opens a new file and pastes the clipboard art in. Sweet! GIMP’s similar functionality is even easier. So easy that I didn’t realize it existed.

I vote that you collect art apps on your iPad like I do. There are certainly worse vices out there. However, let me make a case for at least grabbing Procreate first.
