A series of small earthquakes shook the San Francisco Bay Area on Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquakes all struck near Hayward, Calif., just south of Oakland. A minor, 3.3-magnitude earthquake happened at 11:52 a.m. Pacific time about 1 mile east of Hayward, Calif., data from the agency shows.

A magnitude 3.7 earthquake shook Hayward, Calif., just before 2 p.m. Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor followed two earlier earthquakes — and all three occurred about one mile east of the Northern California community, the agency said.

Officials with the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed four earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.7 to 3.7 hit in the East Bay over the course of Thursday.
