As barrel making continues to boom, barrel manufacturing giant Independent Stave Co. (ISC) will build a $66.5 million cooperage in Northern Kentucky, creating 220 jobs.

They also will produce barrel heads for the top and bottom. The Owen County stave mill will be the company’s fourth. Others are located in Ohio, Tennessee and Alabama.

Their storefront The Stave and Barrel at 12330 James St. b50, is set to open next Friday evening. It's years of hard work for Tara and Ed Schrotenboer that has finally come to fruition.

With the deal, the Charlois family, which is said to be the largest French oak barrel stave producer in that country, established its first U.S. Cloverdale cooperage sold to French barrel group.
