But that doesn’t matter now: in February, the app sold to Badoo, the largest online-dating company in the world, for an undisclosed amount, and the rating system was swiftly dismantled.

Andrey Andreev, chief executive of Badoo, said the app, which was launched in 2006 and claims to have 350 million users worldwide, wanted a new way to make better connections.
