A local team known as the Royals represented the Carolina Panthers at the NFL Flag National Championship in Canton, Ohio.

The Royals, a girls flag football team from the Charlotte Premier Sports League, are competing in the championship under the guidance of their coach from Palisades High School.

He currently attends Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia. The team that he plays for has multiple commits from all over the nation as well.

In May, the district waited three weeks to notify parents at Ardrey Kell High School that the school’s principal was away after being suspended with pay May 2.

A match-up which took place in 2022 at the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic and produced an old school, knockdown, drag out type of game, was derailed in 2024.
