U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) is pushed out of a news conference while trying to ask Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem a question at the Wilshire Federal Building in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Padilla, the son of Mexican immigrants, is known to be a level-headed guy. My colleague Gustavo Arellano describes him as a “ goody-two-shoes.” But these aren’t level-headed days.
