East Carolina University graduate students in maritime studies have been searching for clues to a forgotten fishery within the dark waters of Albemarle Sound.

Plymouth is the capital of Washington County, and is a small town of 1,000 inhabitants. It is situated on the south side of Roanoke River, eight miles from its entrance into Albemarle Sound.
