David Eslinger, 58, pleaded guilty on Thursday to grand larceny and identity theft, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. Eslinger was the cemetery’s former general manager.
Albany Rural Cemetery has a team that prepares a person’s final resting place. As the grounds superintendent, Michael Hudson is in charge of the dig. He has been on the job for 21 years.
Monday marks the 180th anniversary of Albany Rural’s consecration. More than 135,000 people now call the grounds their eternal home.
