Alaska Airlines confirmed this week that it is slated to introduce its first transatlantic service next spring when it launches a route between Seattle and Rome’s Fiumicino Airport.
Alaska plans to offer a 6 p.m. flight to Rome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. A return flight to Seattle will be offered at 3:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Flights on the 5,673-mi. (4,930-nm) route will operate four times per week using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which became available to Alaska Airlines following its merger with Hawaiian Airlines in 2024.
But Alaska executives remained confident in the company’s long-term strategy, particularly its ambitious plan to become a trans-Pacific carrier after it acquired Hawaiian Airlines last year.
