More than two dozen NYPD officers may soon be out of a job because they were hired illegally, the department said Thursday.

It happened just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday when police were dispatched to the area of 7th and Chew streets for a reported shooting.

A 16-year-old girl who was stabbed todeath by her 32-year-old ex-boyfriend and teacher left withthe man in an effort to saveher friends and family fromharm, the girl's family said.
