MAGALIESBURG, South Africa (AP) — Five vultures that were rescued and rehabilitated by a conservation group have been released back into the wild on a mountain range in South Africa.

A lone African wild dog is not nearly as dangerous a threat as they are in packs. They aren’t the largest predators on the savanna, only weighing around 40 to 79 pounds.

After off-and-on debate over many years, the Spartanburg County Council settled on an ordinance that will require licenses and cap the number of dogs.

Conservationists suspect some breeders falsely claim wild-caught reptiles, such as giant girdled lizards, are captive-bred to bypass trade restrictions.

Missouri has 26 breeders included on the list, which details violations or concerns at 100 commercial breeding operations across the country.
