Dubai Police have successfully recovered a bag containing diamond jewellery worth Dh1.1 million ($300,000) after a merchant mistakenly picked up another passenger’s luggage at the airport.

Wizz Air’s Abu Dhabi subsidiary, created in partnership with the government-owned Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Co., was its first operation established outside of Europe.

Abu Dhabi Airports announced that it welcomed over 15.8 million passengers between 1st January and 30th June 2025, marking a notable 13.1 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Abu Dhabi’s airport authority didn’t respond to a request for comment. Zayed Airport has been far outshone by Dubai International Airport.
