While many Switch 2 games offer $10 upgrades from their Switch 1 counterparts, Square Enix's upcoming Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake won't be one of them.

Square Enix has confirmed that there is no upgrade path for Dragon Quest I&II HD-2D Remake from the Switch to Switch 2.

Square Enix has frustrated a lot of Nintendo Switch users that were planning on buying one of the publisher's upcoming games.

Square Enix has revealed that it has no plans for a Switch 2 upgrade path for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, and save data won't be transferrable either.

We're not sure of the reason behind the decision, but Square Enix has announced that the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake version will be incompatible between Nintendo Switch 1 and Nintendo Switch 2.
