Texas Department of State Health Services has disputed a case of rubella in Texas, after Mexia ISD notified local families of a confirmed case.
HOUSTON — Texas health officials report that measles cases have jumped again in an update released Friday morning. The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that 198 measles cases in nine counties have been identified since late January. Twenty-three patients have been hospitalized.
Health officials say West Texas now has almost 200 measles cases and New Mexico's case number has tripled to 30. The case counts were updated on Friday.
The outbreak has sickened nearly 200 people in Gaines County, Texas. A neighboring county in New Mexico has seen 21 new cases since Tuesday.
The number of measles cases in Gaines County, the epicenter of the outbreak, has grown to 137, 30 more than the cases reported three days ago.
