After serving as the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions for the past four years and helping lead Detroit from the NFL's outhouse to the NFC's best record, Aaron Glenn has agreed to become the head coach of the New York Jets, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.

Aaron Glenn was hired to be their 19th full-time head coach on Wednesday. Glenn, who was the Jets’ first-round draft choice in 1994 and played eight seasons for the team, spent the past four years as the Lions defensive coordinator.

Glenn comes back to New York after a strong playing career as a former first-round pick in 1994. He is entering the top job as a first time head coach but has been with the team as a scout, and has had other stops around the league as an assistant under Sean Payton and Dan Campbell.

Aaron Glenn being hired as head coach of the New York Jets has been praised by many connected to the team’s locker room… both the current one and others of the past. Players that are on the Jets’ roster right now and those who previously were in past years but still follow the team were happy about the decision to tab Glenn as the next head coach.

Rodgers has been a long-time colleague of Bucs head coach Todd Bowles, going back to their days as assistant coaches on Bill Parcells' staff with the Cowboys. Rodgers also was Bowles' defensive coordinator for four seasons with the Jets.
