Ricardo Scofidio, an architect who helped reshape the museum landscape in the US, died on Thursday at 89. His death was announced by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the firm he founded with his wife Elizabeth Diller in 1997.

Ricardo Scofidio, an architect who transformed an abandoned railway into New York City's popular High Line park and was among the first in his profession to win a MacArthur Foundation “genius grant,” has died.

With his studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the designer helped create buildings, parks and spaces that blurred the line between art and architecture.
