MOBILE, Al. - The SS United States has completed its voyage from Philadelphia to Mobile, Alabama, where it will be prepped to become part of the world's largest artificial reef. The historic ship spent over a week being tugged down the East Coast after it ceremoniously left its pier in South Philadelphia where it had been docked for decades.

The United States was towed to Mobile for preparation work before it will eventually be sunk off Florida to become an artificial reef.

The SS United States is expected to arrive in the Port of Mobile around noon on Monday. The ship will begin the journey to Mobile Bay around 6 a.m. From there, she will make her way to the docks at Modern American Recycling Services (MARS) located on South Royal Street with an expected arrival at noon,
