Grimes (back) has been cleared to play in Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. After missing Monday's game against the Hornets, Grimes will get back on the floor Wednesday for the Mavericks against Minnesota.

Grimes was chosen with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and had his rights traded on draft night to the New York Knicks, where he spent his first three seasons in the league. Last year, Grimes was dealt to the Detroit Pistons at the deadline, where he played just six games before an injury cut his season short.

There are also new additions that could impact the outcome of Wednesday’s series finale against the Wolves. Klay Thompson is questionable with a left ankle sprain; Quentin Grimes is also questionable with back spasms, which caused him to miss Monday’s loss to Charlotte. Lastly, Naji Marshall is questionable with an illness.

Mavericks center Dereck Lively II has suffered a stress fracture in his right ankle and will be reevaluated in four weeks, the team announced Wednesday. ESPN reported that Lively is expected to miss two to three months. A Philadelphia native, the 7-foot-1 Lively starred in high school at the Westtown School.
