GATEWAY, Colo. — People have been ordered to evacuate near Gateway in western Colorado due to two wildfires burning in the area. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office said evacuation orders have been given for all private land and areas between mile markers 120 and 124 along Highway 141 near Gateway.
A wildfire and a structure fire started on Thursday in northern Chaffee County. The sheriff's office said evacuations were being ordered in the Mountain View Estates neighborhood. The fire is located in an area north of Buena Vista. It was putting up heavy smoke after 2 p.m.
On Saturday, a pre-evacuation notice was issued to residents and businesses in parts of Gateway, Colorado due to the Turner Gulch and Wright Draw Fires.
