The county says West Nile virus is not unusual here. They set up traps around the county and send samples to the state to be tested. The last time a person in Pitt County was infected was just last year when two people tested positive. Officials say over the last 25 years, four people have tested positive in Pitt County.

The Southern Nevada Health District has detected its first West Nile virus-positive mosquitoes of 2025, officials said this afternoon.

The West Central District Health Department has confirmed that a mosquito pool in Lincoln County has tested positive for West Nile Virus.
