Gov. Greg Abbott is bringing the man behind Arizona’s universal school choice to the Capitol on Tuesday to join GOP leaders in the Legislature to push for using public dollars to fund private education.

Gov. Greg Abbott and leaders from the Texas House and Senate will speak about school choice Tuesday. The event is expected at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Texas Capitol. Currently, both the House and Senate bills to establish school savings accounts are in House committee.

The measure would create education savings accounts (ESAs) of about $10,893 per student and allow home schooling families to collect $2,000 per child.
