Crews made significant progress on the Lake Fire in San Bernardino County as authorities said the forward rate of spread was stopped by Sunday afternoon.Evacuations were downgraded early Sunday evening.

A new wildfire was reported today at 9:37 p.m. in San Bernardino County, California. Springs Fire has burned two acres of private land. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

Construction is underway in Fontana on a memorial to honor all first-responders. The centerpiece of the memorial is a beam from the World Trade Center towers that fell in the 9/11 terrorist attack. The City Council accepted the beam from the San Bernardino County Professional Firefighters Local 935 earlier in June.
