SAN ANTONIO (WOAI) — With large demonstrations expected in downtown San Antonio Wednesday night and this weekend, city leaders, including Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Police Chief William McManus, urged residents to be calm while detailing a coordinated plan to support the right to protest peacefully and maintain public safety.
With heavy rain pouring in overnight and throughout Thursday afternoon, Bexar County, the City of Live Oak, the City of Converse announced park closures due to weather and flooding.
A San Antonio police detective is accused of driving while intoxicated. Detective Albert Garansuay was arrested while off-duty around 2 a.m. on Friday, San Antonio police said. The department did not release specifics of the arrest, such as where Garansuay was allegedly driving.
