Seventeen EU member states have issued a joint statement condemning Hungary’s recent legal measures that ban Budapest Pride, warning that the legislation infringes on fundamental rights and contradicts core European values.

Commissioner Hadja Lahbib spoke of a lack of political will to call for temporary measures against the Hungarian law banning Pride.

Several EU member countries demanded strong EU actions on Hungary after what they see as a rule of law backsliding, but Hungary has said political hysteria surround the meeting. #EuropeNews
