An appeals court has halted a federal judge's decision to take control of the National Guard away from President Trump and return it to California.
The Trump administration can maintain control of several thousand National Guard troops in California and continue to deploy them in Los Angeles, a federal appeals court ruled late Thursday, pausing a lower court ruling that determined President Donald Trump's federalization of the guardsmen was unlawful.
Judge Charles Breyer ordered the administration to return control of the National Guard to the California governor, but an appeals court stayed the extraordinary decision Thursday night.
