J Batt is leaving his job as Georgia Tech’s athletic director for the same role with the Spartans, university president Kevin Guskiewicz announced on Monday. Although Batt and Guskiewicz were at North Carolina at the same time, Michigan State hasn’t hired an AD without university ties since 1995.

Michigan State’s new athletic director, Jason "J" Batt, arrives at a transformative time in college sports, and with a number of challenges to resurrect the Spartans into one of the nation’s elite programs.

Michigan State University on Monday named J Batt as its new vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics. Batt has served as the vice president and director of athletics at Georgia Tech since 2022.
