The first U.S. parent to be held criminally responsible for a mass school shooting committed by a child is asking a Michigan judge to throw out her involuntary manslaughter conviction.

Jennifer Crumbley is currently serving a 10-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter in the unprecedented case

An Oakland County judge on Friday heard arguments surrounding Jennifer Crumbley’s request for a new trial or acquittal. Oakland County Circuit Judge Cheryl Matthews said she will issue a written decision at a later date.
