Evacuations lifted for Meridian Fire near Colorado Springs Airport
Evacuations were lifted on Thursday night after a wildfire ignited near the Colorado Springs Airport during the day and burned about 2,500 acres. It was 70% contained at 10 p.m.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department provides updates on the Meridian Fire, which is burning east of Peterson Space Force Base.
The heart of the Meridian fire is burning near Drennan Road and South Meridian Road but flames are moving north toward Colorado 94, said Sergeant Kurt Smith with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
