Cell phone video from the scene showed black smoke and heavy flames billowing into the air from the boat explosion on popular Lake Lanier north of Atlanta.

Hall County Fire Rescue said it responded to Lanier Islands Parkway around 7 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of a boat explosion. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said a 23-foot cabin cruiser was being towed in Landshark Cove near Margaritaville when the explosion happened.
