Khyree Jackson, only 24 years old, was about to begin his rookie season with the Vikings at the time of his passing. The team had selected him in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Jackson flourished after leaving for Oregon in 2023, though, earning First-team All-Pac-12 honors. He finished with three interceptions, 34 total tackles (25 solo), two sacks and 10 passes defended.
Jackson never got that chance due to the late-night crash that killed him along with two of his former high school teammates, Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton, Jr., 24, of Upper Marlboro.
Three men in one of the vehicles involved died from the crash, including Khyree Jackson, 24, Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24.
The Charger was knocked off the road and into multiple trees. Inside the Charger were Jackson, Hazel and Lytton Jr. Hazel and Jackson were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chevrolet only had the driver inside. Jackson, who was set to make his NFL debut this fall as the Minnesota Vikings' rookie cornerback, was in the passenger seat of the Dodge Charger.
