Humberto is about 465 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving slowly toward the northwest. It is expected to strengthen substantially over the weekend to become a major hurricane, the Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

MIAMI (AP) — A hurricane warning has been issued for the Azores as Hurricane Gabrielle churned Wednesday across open Atlantic waters on track for the volcanic archipelago, forecasters said.

The Miami-based National Hurricane Center said Gabrielle’s maximum sustained winds increased to 120 mph, making it a dangerous Category 3 hurricane. The storm was located about 195 miles southeast of Bermuda. It was moving north at about 10 mph.
